Healthy Snack Review

SCHNACKS!!! Anyone who knows me well knows that I LOVE MY SCHNACKS!!!

If you are my client, you have also heard me say, “Why are you eating so many meals a day? Are you a goat? Do you have to graze?”

But the reality is that some people NEED to eat food throughout the day. Everyone’s body is different, and our energy needs (aka food needs) fluctuate throughout the day depending on what we are doing (or NOT doing!). So I know that if I have a long day of content creation scheduled, three solid meals a day is enough for me. If I am trying to detox, maybe it’s just two meals. But if I’m taking a hot yoga class for an hour or working out AND walking the dog, then I need more food. That’s where SCHNACKS come in.

Today I’m reviewing my FAVORITE SCHNACKY FOODS! On those high energy days, your body is craving clean energy sources, but as busy mamas we have limited time in a week to make snacks from scratch. So here’s my breakdown of the top pre-made snack foods on the market right now.

Primal Kitchen. If you are looking for a quick shake or bar to throw into your purse, Primal Kitchen has got you covered. My favorite, the coconut lime bar, tastes like a day on the beach. And it is paleo friendly and contains only 2 grams of sugar and 8  grams of protein. Woop!

Made in Nature. This company has ALL DA YUMMY SCHNACKS with NONE OF THE GUILT. Their Figgy Pops have been popping up in grocery stores all over the place. One of my clients who travels often was even able to score a bag of Figgy Pops at the airport. Now THAT is what I call healthy travel. The Pitta in me LOVES the Mango flavored pops, which contain only 100 calories for 20 pops. The best part about these, though, is that I can READ and PRONOUNCE every single ingredient. Check it out: ORGANIC MANGOES, ORGANIC DATES, ORGANIC APRICOTS, ORGANIC QUINOA CRISPS, ORGANIC GRANOLA (ORGANIC GLUTEN-FREE OATS, ORGANIC MAPLE SYRUP, ORGANIC COCONUT OIL, ORGANIC SESAME SEEDS), ORGANIC SUNFLOWER SEEDS, ORGANIC BROWN RICE CRISPS, ORGANIC COCONUT OIL, ORGANIC COCONUT, SEA SALT. It does not get much cleaner than this!


Square Organics. Have you guys seen these popping up all over social media lately? Yeah, me too. So I of course did what any normal human being would do and ran RIGHT TO THE STORE TO BUY ONE OF EVERY FLAVOR. Chocolate covered cookie dough? YUP. My heart sings. These bad boys are made with plant protein and MCT Oil. HOLLAAAAAAR!!!! Clean, pure energy from plant foods. And they are DAMN delicious. The ONLY thing that I can do without is the hefty price tag, but…. When you’re in a pinch and you want to stick to those #GOALS, then you gotta do what you gotta do, sister.

Boom Chicka Pop. If you have not heard of this stuff yet, I have only one thing to say to you. DO YOU LIVE UNDER A ROCK?? Boom Chicka Pop comes in so many RIDICULOUS flavors, and it is a WHOLE GRAIN SCHNACK. So if you think you are having trouble getting little Susie on board with the whole healthy eating thing that you’ve got going on over there, just grab a bag of this and sit her down in front of some cartoons and let her go to town. Whole Grain Goodness, without the cancer-causing yellow butter-like stuff that comes in the microwavable Pop Secret bags. Ick. Plus, their Sea Salt Popcorn comes in at 35 calories per cup. BOOM.




gimMe snacks. Sea veggies do a LOT of things to help us out. They support our thyroid functions. They have antioxidant properties which protect us from the onslaught of environmental toxins. They support gut health. I mean, I could go on and on about these slippery little fellas. A great way to sneak in some seaweed is to keep one of these little snack packs in your car for those on-the-run days when you’re just craving a salty snack. BONUS - they even help to delay hunger, which = WEIGHT LOSS BABY! No wonder why Ariel was so svelt.
